About the festival

History
Announced as the first meetings of video art schools in France, the festival Bandits-Mages was created by a group of students at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Bourges in May 1992. In 1993, the festival takes an international dimension and this video production of some fifty art schools in France and abroad. By 1994, it opens the young independent artists and develops multimedia programming historical and contemporary, broadening its scope of action in several cultural sites in the city of Bourges. Free access and free, the festival is open to everyone and offers over a period of four to five days a programme of video and film screenings, exhibitions, performances, debates and round tables. Building on its success, the association works in the organization of four annual festivals between 1992 and 1995 before moving to biennial mode from 1997. If the festival has found its place in the local landscape is largely thanks to its historic partners as the Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Arts de Bourges and la Maison de la Culture of Bourges.

University Paris 8, France
29'53

Having decided to leave San Francisco, she paces through the zones of the city that are dear to her, while in her head, many stories play out, like a parrallel journey. The docks, shopping squares, boulevards, cafe's... All of these places, familiar up until now, reveal their strangeness on this final walk.

The student will be invited to present her film during the contemporary art biennal of the city of Bourges 2010.

with Brad Downey, suggested by Jérôme Fino and Flavie Guerrand, artists and co-programmers of the Festival

There are a multitude of signals and systems that govern our cities and imperceptibly determine our everyday movement. Artist Brad Downey stakes a claim for the right of the individual to interpret and understand these systems, and thus regain power in the public arena.

> Reverberation - Monday 4th of May 10:00 am
with Charlemagne Palestine, un projet Méduse-R dans le cadre des Futurs de l’Ecrit à Noirlac
http://www.charlemagnepalestine.org/
Sound carries and reflects. Places are mirrors and send back images which form and deform depending on the surfaces, distances and times.
What do particular places, full of history and part of a changing geography, send back to us?
What kind of sound writings do experimentation and broadcasting in these particular places bring us to?
Multimedia artist and and nomadic traveller, Charlemagne Palestine uses paint, sculpture, music, video, performance.
He develops a unique and personal style of "minimalist" music based on the duration, the repetition and the harmonic function of sound. He is ceaselessly in search of a particular vision of sound looking for new sound experiences. He creates a radical, minimalist, spiritual and avant-garde music.
The search for objects' sound quality, physics and the history of places, dialogues and exchanges between the participants are the bases of resonant production performances.
organised by Bandits-Mages/Jean-Michel Ponty professor at the ENSA-Bourges

> Laboratory of collective research, for the creation and the broadcast of a sound magazine. - Tuesday 5th of May 10:00 am
